The 57 Chevy is one of the most iconic cars ever built. Almost everybody who is anybody can immediately recognize the fins and hood rockets and realize they are looking at a 57. During the last 25 years the crew at D&P Classic Chevy has built and modified a lot of 57 Chevys. Long time customer Gordon had always wanted a 57 Chevy so he bought a clean 57 Nomad, (be patient I know this is not a Nomad your looking at). Gordon brought the stock Nomad to D&P for an extreme makeover several years ago. The Nomad was fully updated by D&P and Gordon drove the Nomad for several years.

Eventually Gordon told Darryl from D&P that he really wanted the Nomad to go faster, a lot faster. After a lengthy discussion Darryl suggested that Gordon should sell the Nomad instead of cutting it up and turning it into a Pro Street car that could handle the torque and horsepower Gordon was looking for.   After a search, a nice 57 Chevy 2 door sedan was located. The abandoned project was a nice solid car with minimal rust and damage. After putting a build plan together D&P built Gordon the boulevard bruiser you see here. Gordon was looking for a lot of usable horsepower so D&P utilized a GM Performance big block that was “re-worked” to produce an estimated 800+ horsepower that would run on premium fuel.

D&P also installed a built Turbo 400 transmission behind the nasty big block. The 57 was also back halved with a Chris Alston 4 bar rear suspension, fully tubbed and a Ford 9 inch differential with 4:10 gears was built and installed. A full roll cage was installed to reduce twist and provide a level of safety. D&P installed a March Performance pulley kit and a D&P aluminum cross flow radiator for cooling. Disc brakes and power steering with an Ididit Tilt column were also installed for comfort and safety as Gordon planned on mostly street driving for the beast. The body was painted in House of Kolor Galaxy Grey.

The inserts on the quarter panels were sprayed with “real fire” by the infamous VanDemon. The wheels were built by Budnik along with Mickey Thompson radials. The trim was replaced with all new parts from Danchuk. Gordon’s 57  was built to be a street car. The result is a scary fast hot rod. This thing goes from Zero to wet your pants in the blink of an eye. Originally the engine was set up for Nitrous but after some test driving it quickly became obvious that Nitrous would be over kill. I know, I know, you can’t have too much horsepower but this thing is a monster and plenty fast for a street car as is. Gordon’s 57 is loud, obnoxious, radical, and a handfull to drive. But it sure puts a smile on your face
