When you purchase a car on the internet sometimes you don’t know what your getting unless you have someone check out the car before you buy it. In this case a local car enthusiast found a good deal on a 1962 Corvette builder car in Florida. The car looked decent in photos, but the future owner didn’t have the car inspected before the purchase. The classic vette was purchased and shipped to D&P Classic Chevy for a complete modernization.

During the tear down D&P discovered that the vintage Vette had apparently been an old drag car as there had previously been many modifications and areas of damage found that were consistent with a life on the drag strip. There were even a number of gun shot holes in the sides of the car like someone had used it for target practice. Can you imagine shooting up an old Vette? The hard life resulted in D&P having to replace a number of panels to bring the 62 back to it’s former glory.

The build plan included complete modernization so D&P upgraded the suspension with updated C4 Corvette suspension front and rear. For power a GM Performance LS2 crate engine backed up with a 4L60e 4 speed automatic transmission was installed. The brake system was updated with a more modern 4 wheel power disc brake system. Comfort options include an Ididit tilt column, Vintage Air Conditioning, Gold Top Restortion Gauge cluster, Lokar shifter, a complete custom leather and suede interior, and much more. This vintage Vette avoided the bone yard and now has a new life cruising the streets of Southern California.
